Situated in Harmans Cross near Swanage and Corfe Castle, the accommodation is central to the Isle of Purbeck, an ideal location from which to explore the many nearby places of interest, including: the sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage, Wareham, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Other attractions nearby include Brownsea Island, Poole and Bournemouth, and within walking distance is the Swanage Heritage Railway. The Isle of Purbeck cliffs are truly spectacular and lead onto the notable geological formations of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

Your hosts at April Cottage are Joanna and Peter Burri-Weaver who offer a personalised level of Anglo-Swiss hospitality sure to make any guest feel welcome. In addition, not many guest accommodations can boast an ex-Olympian and 1st SAS descendant for hosts. As well as a great location and a friendly welcome, our full English breakfast, which comes with every stay, can be taken in the large gardens, weather permitting of course.

Peter & Joanna are professionals of the hospitality industry who have managed hotels in exotic places like the Seychelles and Zanzibar. During the last few winters they have also managed hotels or resorts in the Alps.

Two guest rooms are available at April Cottage, a ground floor twin room with private bathroom and a large first floor double en-suite, reached by spiral staircase.

The double room can accommodate a further bed and there is ample parking on-site with free Wi-Fi.

What can I say, but just perfect from start to finish. The room was just beautifully designed with a lovely seating area, and incredibly comfy bed. The breakfast, well that was just something else! I have never and probably will never have such an amazing breakfast. So much choice and cooked to perfection. Peter and Joey were lovely, so friendly and Peter is so knowledgeable and happily chatted with me during breakfast. As for location it was great and so close to Shell Beach which was so quiet and stunning and my favourite swim spot. Corfe Castle just up the road and lots of excellent hiking spots around. A very memorable couple of days and one of my favourites!

We stayed in the Lapland Lodge and had a wonderful time. Peter was excellent at communicating prior to our visit and so accommodating and friendly upon arrival. Clean and comfortable place with an amazing, large and beautiful garden. It was lovely to eat breakfast served by Peter, outside in the garden. The house was also 10 minutes’ walk from a station for the steam railway to Swanage and Corfe. Peter gave lots of useful recommendations of places to visit too. Would come again!
